30 years. Does that seem crazy to any one else? I, myself, am only 27. I knew that the franchise was older than me, but it has such a timeless feel, it’s hard to remember that when watching the movies. His Name Was Jason doesn’t take anything from that timelessness at all.

Featuring clips from every movie in the franchise and interviews with many key people involved in the franchise (cast and crew alike), His Name Was Jason is necessary viewing for all fans of the Friday the 13th series. It’s entertaining and very well put together. Since it was released just before the remake came out, it would’ve been easy to turn this into a commercial for the new film, but instead His Name Was Jason focuses on the whole series – and does it splendidly.

What a dream for gore-hounds everywhere! Freddy VS Jason, Nightmare on Elm Street meets Friday the 13th. We’d heard the rumors. We’d even seen the clues that it might really happen someday, but I’m not sure anyone really believed it. Then it came – 2003. There it was on the big screen – two horror legends battling it out for psychopathic slasher movie supremacy.

Could it possibly live up to the hype? Could it possibly be as good as everyone was hoping it would be? After all those years, could they really make a movie that would do justice to the enormous cinematic event that this had the potential to be? Could Freddy VS Jason possibly be anything but a let down?

The first movie in this legendary series, Friday the 13th, is remade for a whole new audience of blood-lusters – and the movie does not disappoint. From the first severed head within moments of the movie’s open, the blood doesn’t stop flowing.

Watch as the young, pretty people are taught yet again why it’s so important to listen to those stories you hear around the campfire and never, ever break the rules of horror movies. Drugs and sex get you murdered by homicidal maniacs. When will they learn? Hopefully never – then what would be watch. Friday the 13th stabs and gouges the lesson home again and again.
